Meet the team
Dr Claire Lee, Centre for Psychological Research, Oxford Brookes University.
Claire is a Research Fellow and is the project lead for the Supporting All to Thrive project. A former Service child and experienced teacher of Service children herself, she conducted research with children from Armed Forces backgrounds for both her Masters and her ESRC-funded doctoral research projects.
Claire has expertise in qualitative and mixed-methods research and specialises in arts-based and dialogical educational research.
Alison Cotton, Centre for Psychological Research, Oxford Brookes University
Alison Cotton is a final year PhD student at Oxford Brookes University researching the educational attainment and Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities of children from UK Armed Forces families. She is a qualified Specialist Teacher with Associate Membership of the British Dyslexia Association (AMBDA) and holds an Assessment Practising Certificate (APC).
Alison is also a member of the Professional Association of Teachers of Students with Specific Learning Difficulties (PATOSS) and the NHS England Armed Forces Public Patient Voice Group.
Professor Vincent Connelly, Centre for Psychological Research, Oxford Brookes University
Vincent has conducted funded research with the Armed Forces community. A Reservist himself, his research has been instrumental in shaping key reforms for the British Army and MoD, including advice for Veterans and families.
Professor Dianne Newbury, Department of Biological and Medical Sciences, Oxford Brookes University
Dianne brings expertise in analysing large complex datasets in relation to speech and language and neurodevelopmental disorders. Her role in this project is to have academic oversight of the National Pupil Database analysis in Strand 1.
