The news of the passing of Professor Nicola Fear, CBE, our Steering Group Chair, came as a huge shock and blow to us, both personally and as part of the research and Armed Forces community. It was characteristic of Nicola that despite her huge international stature as an academic she chose to devote so much of her precious time and expertise to our project and took such an interest in our work. Such generosity is rare and precious, as is the warmth and kindness with which she chaired our group. We will make sure that our work honours her legacy by leaving a lasting impact on the community she held so dear.
